Machine Hour Rate & Profit Planning Fundamentals

Perfect for financial managers, sales managers, estimators, and cost accountants from folding carton, corrugated, commercial printing, flexible, label, and contract packaging companies.

Students will create the necessary budgets and construct a complete set of Machine Hour Rates for costing and pricing. Participants will also learn how to:

• Create a profit plan
• Determine the true cost of labor
• Construct variable and fixed overhead budgets
• Establish production centers and estimate their hours, downtime, and efficiency
• Develop machine hour rates for cost and pricing
• Monitor profitablity by order


No required advanced preparation for the workshop. We recommend reading the Insomniac Converter's Handbook, which will be mailed to all students prior to the workshop date.

Participants will return home with detailed instructions and every tool necessary on how to implement profit planning in their own plants. Earn 14 Hours of CPE!


The Markens Group is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.

This is a basic course of fundamentals. No prerequisites are required. The workshop is presented as a "Group-Live" presentation and we generally award 14 hours of CPE based on actual contact time.

Substitutions/Cancellations Policy
Substitutions are accepted at any time. To obtain a refund of your registration fee (minus a $150 processing fee), notify The Markens Group and receive a notification of confirmation at least thirty days before the workshop begins. Between fifteen and twenty-nine days before the workshop, the processing fee is $500. Within two weeks of the workshop, no refunds are offered.

Dispute Resolution
Ben Markens, managing principal and lead teacher, is available to consider any dispute or other issue. Our general philosophy is "whatever's fair," and he will work with you to achieve a mutually agreeable solution. From our firm's point of view, he has complete and sole discretion to resolve any issue.
